Coppice awarded certificate to mark progress towards ICT excellence

Coppice Primary School has been awarded a recognition certificate to mark the progress it has made within the Next Generation Learning Charter, towards gaining full ICT Mark status, the national standard indicating excellent use of ICT in learning and school management.

The certificate recognises the efforts and good progress the school has made, having now completed almost half of the required categories on its journey to gaining the full ICT Mark.

The Next Generation Learning Charter was launched by Becta, the government’s agency for technology in education, to help improve the strategic and effective use of technology in schools across the country.

This recognition certificate means Coppice is already leading the way and committed to improving learning for pupils through the use of technology (including computers and laptops) in lessons.

There is strong evidence to show that when technology is used effectively in schools, it can help to motivate and excite pupils, and raise attainment.

Mike Briscoe, Director of Institutions, Leadership and Safeguarding at Becta, said:

“Not only is Coppice committed to using ICT across all school activities to benefit and enhance pupils’ learning but this certificate recognises that they are always looking to improve what they are doing. The Next Generation Learning Charter recognises schools like Coppice that make the best use of ICT in a structured and more strategic way. I hope they will continue to benefit from Becta’s guidance and advice in their journey to the full ICT mark.”

Anne Riley  Head teacher at Coppice said,

“We are delighted to have been recognised for our progress towards ICT excellence. It is a brilliant way for us to show pupils, parents and the wider community that we are committed to using ICT in the best way we can. We are committed to continuing to improve our use of ICT in order to achieve full ICT Mark accreditation.”
