Homework

Reading

Please listen to your child read every day, even if it is only a few pages.  Encourage them to use their phonic knowledge to work out unfamiliar words, and talk about what is happening in the story, what do they think will happen next?  Why has something happened?  Please also practise the words on the word wheel and the pencil list, these are just as important as reading the book.

Spellings

Spelling test is on a Monday and spellings will be sent out on a Tuesday or Wednesday.  Please practise the spellings on more than one occassion before the test.  Look, cover, write, check is an effective way of helping your child to learn their spellings.  Remind your child to only use a capital letter if their spelling is a name.

Numeracy

Numeracy homework will be sent out on a Friday and will be related to the work your child has been doing in school throughout the week.  Please look at the work together and return it to school on a Tuesday.
